No future for the country역사를잊은민족에게미래는없다

역사를 잊은 민족에게 미래는 없다 (The people who forget the history of their country has no future)

The famous line that can be found inside the Independence Hall of Korea.

안중근 (An Jung-geun) was a Korean Independence activist in 1900s and was widely regarded as a national hero.

He used to sign off all his calligraphy works with his hand print, which is also famous because of the missing joint on his ring finger. He had cut off the joint of his finger as a pledge that he will assassinate Ito Hirobumi.
It is now one of the several symbols of Korean nationalism.

This is a message for their own people – that if they forget about history, there will then be no future for the country.

This is the message that I’ve gotten from my Korean History class.
